Pros -

Costs less than a new ATV.
More for your money - used four wheelers for sale usually have some optional equipment installed. Things like racks, skid plates, wheels and tires, and other extras often come included on used ATVs.
Brand name used quads can be had for about the same price as an off-brand model. If you want to be able to find service and parts - this is important.
A good used name brand model will last much longer and retain more value than most off brand new models.

Online classifieds - Rapidly replacing printed ads. Craigslist has become the most popular. Many larger towns have their own local online classifieds. Since there aren't any feedback ratings and no way of learning anything about the seller - you need to really be careful of scammers. Never pay for anything before you see it in person.

Print classifieds - Can still be a good source for finding a used ATV. Just like the online ads - you need to be careful - many stolen four wheelers are sold through print ads. Selection can be limited depending on the size of the area the papers cover.
