Swamp Witch ATV Tire Review

swamp-witch-atv-tire

Full Review of this popular ATV mud tire -

And where to find the best deals.

The Swamp Witch ATV tire is a popular multi-use tire with the accent on mud riding.

You may notice some similarities to the Outlaw MST ATV tire - and you wouldn't be wrong.

That's because they are both made by the same manufacturer in Thailand. The Outlaw tire is basically a slightly modified Swamp Witch tire!

What's different?

The Outlaw MST has a slightly lower profile - the lugs wrap around the sidewalls about half an inch more - and the lugs are spaced a little closer than the Swamp Witch.

Oh - and they cost about $75 a set more!

Are there any noticeable performance differences?

We would be hard pressed to find any in 99% of most riding situations. They both handle well in trail riding. Vibration at high speed on hard surfaces is about the same (not bad). Turning effort felt the same.

Since both are obviously designed with the emphasis on soft surface mud/snow performance - we thought that would be the one place we could find some difference.

But on an average "muddy" trail test loop - we have to admit we couldn't really feel anything that would favor the Outlaw over the Swamp Witch ATV tire. Both performed well and seemed to "clean out" the lugs about the same when packed with heavier mud.

If anything - the Swamp Witches might have been slightly better due to their more widely spaced lugs. However, in deep ruts, the Outlaws might have a slight advantage with their larger sidewall lugs.

What about the ride quality?

The Swamp Witch ATV tire has more of a "crown" shape while the Outlaw has a flatter tread profile. Theoretically, the Swamp Witch has a better ride while the Outlaw has better stability at higher speed. In the real world - we're just not that sensitive. Sorry to say we couldn't tell much difference at all.

We have been told that the Outlaw MST tire has a rubber composition that should give longer tread life. But our experience is that your personal riding style, and the type of terrain you ride, has as much to do with tire life as any other factor.

Swamp Witch ATV Tire - Recommendations

If you're looking for a multi-purpose ATV trail tire with a focus on mud/snow capability, we would definitely consider the Swamp Witch tire.Compared to the Outlaw MST - we don't think most riders would be able to feel any difference.

The claim of longer tire life for the Outlaw MST might justify the higher cost - but we sure like the value pricing of the Swamp Witch. Speaking of good deals - just click on our custom link below for the best prices online.
