Seal Your Air Filter for ATV Mudding

by Dave
(Conway, AR.)

The seal between the open end of your air filter and air box is really critical. Yes, I learned the hard way!

An old cross country bike racer gave me this tip.

Apply a bead of waterproof marine grease to the bottom of the filter where it contacts the air box. You can also put some around the intake opening of the air box for some added insurance.

If some water or other crud gets in your air box, the grease seal will keep it out of the intake, saving you untold amounts of grief!

Hope this helps keep the fun in your ATV mudding.

Great Tip for ATV Mudding!
by: Bobby

Hey Dave, thanks for the great tip. Followed your advice and probably saved my motor. When I cleaned my air filter after my last wet ride - sure enough there was some water in the air box. Thanks to your great tip - none got in the intake. Thanks again!
